Locums Emergency General Surgery Physician Assistant

We are seeking a Locums Emergency General Surgery Physician Assistant (PA) to support a high-volume surgical service in Asheville, North Carolina. This is a daytime, non-operative role ideal for an experienced PA with a background in acute care surgery.

This is primarily a non-operative role.

Schedule:

•  Full-Time and Part-Time opportunities available 
• Choose between Three 12-hour shifts or Four 10-hour shifts per week
• Shifts run Monday through Thursday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM (for 10s) or adjusted per 12-hour format 

Clinical Responsibilities:

• Round on pre-operative and post-operative floor patients
• Assist with new surgical consults and coordinate patient care
• Collaborate closely with surgical attendings and residents
• May participate in post-operative outpatient clinic visits
• Manage a wide range of acute surgical conditions, including:
• Abdominal pain
• Appendicitis
• Gallbladder disease
• Bowel obstructions
• Hernias
• Diverticulitis
• Pancreatitis
• Perforated viscus
• Soft tissue infections 

Qualifications:

·         Experience in acute surgical care and familiarity with emergency general surgery conditions preferred

·         Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a team-based setting

·         Current North Carolina license and DEA (or ability to obtain)

·         ACLS/BLS certification preferred
